I`m interested in how microbes act in the carbon cycle in freshwater and marine ecosystems. I`m currently focused in understanding why heterotrophic bacteria mineralize carbon faster in the tropical ecosystems and which factors drives the high temporal and spatial variability in the metabolic (especially respiratory) processes in lower latitude ecosystems. Thus, I am currently looking at the relationship between the stoichiometric composition (C:N:P) in bacterial biomass and their resources, as well as their metabolic behavior.
